Valamar donated to Foundation of Ana Rukavina and Humanitarian Association Dora
Out of the total donation of 100 thousand kuna, 50 thousand were donated to Humanitarian Association Dora for awarding scholarships to 11 poor pupils and students in the school year 2007/2008 and the same amount to the Foundation of Ana Rukavina for the further successful work on the development of the register of the volunteer donators of the bone marrow and developing the stem cells bank.
When they were giving donation cheques, the Board chairman of Valamar, Peter Fuchs and the Board member, Zrinko Kamber, said the companies that operate in the Valamar group (Riviera Pore?, Rabac, Zlatni otok Krk, Dubrovnik-Babin kuk, Valamar hoteli i ljetovališta, Valamar turisticki projekti, Dom holding) decided to donate the funds intended for buying Christmas gifts for their business partner this year to those who need it more.
“We recognized these projects for their past active and quality work on improvement of the society of knowledge and healthy society. We are glad we could contribute to it, and we invite other companies in Croatia to follow our example in building better society for us and our children”, Zrinko Kamber said.
In the name of the Foundation of Ana Rukavina the director Marija Rukavina, the mother of the late Ana thanked for the donation. “In the year after Ana’s death, since our Foundation has been founded, we collected 4.5 million kuna from good people, we entered 30 thousand people in the register of the volunteer donators of bone marrow, and we founded the public bank of stem cells. We were told by one American institute that these results are exceptional and that we can compare them to as if in the USA 2.5 millions of new donators were registered in six months”, Marija Rukavina said, pointing out that the donation of Valamar group will cover expenses of typification of 50 blood samples. She also announced the private bank of stem cells will be founded soon, and they have been expecting the approval from the Ministry of Health for a longer period.
Renata Gubi?, director of the Humanitarian Association Dora, said that this donation will help 11 young people from all over Croatia, that are in extremely difficult family and financial situation, to get the opportunity for education, “500 kuna per month may not seem to be big amount of money to some people, but for these children this means a lot, because they can cover with it expenses of travelling to school and university, as well as the student home and student card, and these are basic conditions for continuation of schooling”, Renata Gubi? said and thanked once again to all the companies in Valamar group for this humanitarian act.
