What is it that is so mystic and attractive in an underground, at first sight awkward plant looking like potato, that the people are willing to spend a fortune and proclaim it „king of the gastronomy“? This was the introduction of the post “Istrian truffles” from several months ago and today we are coming back to this magical underground tuber. Autumn in Istria is the ideal period for truffles, while the “Truffle Days” will take place till 12th November with numerous important gastronomic events. Therefore, if you are a lover of the most exquisite culinary delicacies, you will not make a mistake by packing your suitcases and coming straight to Istria.

Yesterday and the day before yesterday in Livade near Motovun the “Tuberfest” took place – a fair of the white truffle, as well as an exhibition and tasting of genuine Istrian products. The programme “Truffle Days” in Istria continues in Livade during the following two weekends with a truffle exhibition, while on 3rd and 4th November Buzet will host the gastronomic fair “The tastes of Buzet”, where beside a truffle exhibition, you will be able to see and taste other local products from Istria; also truffle “hunting” and an interesting cultural programme will be organised for the visitors.
