Within human resources development programme, to which big attention is paid in Valamar tourist group, numerous trainings for employees were held during the first few months of this year and they have still being held, ranging from various courses and seminars to practical workshops. More than 1000 employees have undergone training in Valamar in the preparation of the 2008 season, and more than 25 thousand training hours in total will be held.

Heads of departments of the branded Vlamar hotels in Porec, Rabac, Krk and Dubrovnik, along with their managers and some of the Valamar academy attendants undergo this programme. This training is in compliance with one of the strategic goals of Valamar hotel operations, that is, development of its managers in in-house trainers that will transfer their knowledge, skills and experience to their co-workers.

Reception, marketing and sales employees participate in two-days-long seminars named “Achieving successful sales by developing business communication”. The objective of this workshop is development of the sales skills and capacity management, as well as creating cooperative effects and exchange of experiences of the group’s employees. Such practice proved itself to be extremely successful, because attendants, apart from the educational content, exchange experiences and socialize with colleagues from other destinations.

One of the interesting courses is definitely education for the restaurant staff named “Culture of communication and sales skills in the restaurant”. Attendants of the training are waiters, bartenders, restaurant managers and Valamar academy attendants for restaurant departments’ managers. For heads of the central food preparation facility in Rabac, training named “Development of communication skills and team work” will be held, emphasizing development of team communication culture.
Foreign languages courses are held in spring. About 70 employees in Dubrovnik-Babin kuk will attend courses of German, French and Spanish language. About 60 employees in Rabac will attend courses of French and Russian language. Crash courses of foreign languages, German, English, Italian, Russian and French, for hotel operations are currently being held in Riviera Porec.

All the courses are specially designed for kitchen, restaurant, housekeeping and reception where our employees learn and improve phrases, communication, language patterns and terms they will come across in their everyday work. Foreign languages courses in Zlatni otok in Krk will be held at the end of March and at the beginning of April.
Valamar employees undergo courses for wine stewards, bartenders, IT courses, fruit and vegetable decoration courses, Croatian Association of Hoteliers seminars for cooks, waiters and bartenders, etc.
