Valamar hands out Awards for Excellence

Valamar logoValamar handed out awards for excellence to its best employees and teams of employees who, through their efforts, have made an exceptional contribution to the results gained during this year’s season. In previous years, these awards have been handed out in Porec and Rabac, but this year they were given out during the annual gathering of Valamar employees, which was held last weekend at the Dubrovnik President Hotel in Dubrovnik.

The Valamar Award for Exceptional Results in 2007 was given to the Valamar Sales Team, which was accepted by Directors of Sales and Marketing in charge of individual Valamar destinations – Giorgio Cadum (Porec), Vesna Scira-Knapic (Rabac), Danijela Sapanjos (Krk), Tomislav Dumancic (Dubrovnik), and Zeljko Kukurin (Director of Sales and Marketing for the entire group). This year, the team attained a 14 percent increase in accommodation revenue in comparison to 2006, and it is interesting to note that there was a uniform increase in revenue throughout the group that ranged between 13 to 17 percent.

Valamar teamThe Award for the Best Results achieved in 2007 in the Division of Hotels and Apartments was received on behalf of all employees by the host of the gathering Ivica Sabljic, Director of the Dubrovnik President Hotel. The hotel deserved this award due to its exceptional financial results, as well as achieving an 11 percent increase in gross operational profits this year in comparison to 2006. According to the results from a guest survey, the hotel got the best result in the quality of service throughout the whole group – a high 89.25 percent. The application of a standard operational procedure also got a high 95.2 percent, which is two percent more than last year. The Dubrovnik President was the winner of two prestigious awards in the “Tourism Flower – Quality for Croatia” awards this year (the second best hotel with four stars in Croatia and the best hotel breakfast in Croatia). It is also the holder of a HACCP Food Safety Management System certificate.

The Award for the Best Results in the Camping Division was given to the Porec campsite Lanterna, and was received on behalf of all employees by Viktor Zuzic, the long term Director of the campsite. This largest Croatian campsite achieved a seven percent gross increase in operational profits in comparison to 2006, and through the application of a standard operational procedure, the level of quality increased from 80.25 percent to 95.6 percent. It was also the recipient of a prestigious award from the German camping club DCC for the best campsite in Croatia, and for being in the top five European campsites in 2007.

Hotel Koralj from Krk deservingly got the Award for the Most Improved Results in comparison to last year. This award was received in the name of all employees by the hotel’s Director Mile Pavlica, who has been managing the hotel since March this year. Asides from achieving a 35 percent increase in gross operational profits when compared to 2006, satisfaction amongst employees in Hotel Koralj in terms of the corporate climate and culture was estimated to be 10 percent more than last year. It is important to point out that in 2008, the hotel will be branded and will be given the name Valamar Koralj. It will get an outdoor pool, and with 20 especially arranged apartments will be positioned as a romantic hotel for couples.

The Award for the Best Employee of the Valamar Group was given this year to Ester Miletic, a waitress from the Valamar Sanfior Hotel in Rabac. Ester is known in Valamar as a person who is cheerful, kind and smilingly attentive to all the guests at the hotel, and as someone who is always available to them. In her role as a waitress in the bar in the hotel’s foyer, Ester Miletic creates a positive working atmosphere, encourages the development of team work, and achieves excellent results.
