There is almost no municipal event that is not connected with our Hotel Valamar Diamant. Last weekend it was very exciting to be at the 9th Porec Car Rally, where the winners’ trophies were present at our hotel. The happy faces of the winning teams and the rally organizers filled the lobby bar. With great pride Porec driver Danijel Saskin and his co-driver Damir Brunner took the winner’s trophy. The Swedish driver, Patrik Sandell, who is a World Rally star and the world junior champion in 2006, and his co-driver Emil Axelsson were in sixth place. All the same, Patrik was still satisfied. In an interview after the awards ceremony, he complimented the accommodations, the staff and the food in the Valamar Diamant, and even said that next year he is going to spend his vacation here.

At the same time, the hotel’s sports auditorium hosted the seventh annual Aerobics Day, and for the first time this year it had a humanitarian purpose. Proceeds from the event have been donated to our fellow resident, Ksenija, to finance medical treatment abroad.

And finally, I want to announce a big festival next weekend – the 7th Polenta Festival, which coincides with the Feast of St. Mauro, the patron saint of Porec. On Friday, 21 November at 11:00 a.m. there will be a mass in the Euphrasian Basilica. Also, beginning in the morning there will be a rich gastronomic offering at Freedom Square (Trg Sloboda) – polenta served in many different ways, and performances by the groups Baredinosaurusi, Anelidi and Kolaž. On Saturday, 22 November, local groups will appear in a humanitarian concert dedicated to Ksenija. The fun, accompanied by a DJ, will continue into the early morning hours.
