What our grandmothers cooked – a gastronomic manifestation in Rabac
Wed, Jun 3, 2009
“What our grandmothers cooked” is a gastronomic manifestation during which you will be able to enjoy the traditional cooking and specialties of the Rabac region. It is nice to discover cultural and natural beauties, get to know the customs and the tradition of the region you are spending your summer holiday in. The local caterers prepared genuine homemade delicacies during the first manifestation held on 17 May. The visitors could, therefore, enjoy the homemade pasta (Cro. maneštra), octopus salad, pasta with salted sardines and cabbage (Cro. broskva), cuttlefish stew (Cro. brudet), squids with potatoes prepared under the baking lid (Cro. peka) and the inevitable homemade dumplings and pasta (Cro. fuzi) with locally grown poultry. It is a known fact that good wine goes with good food, and there was plenty of it at the manifestation. Trio Boom group took care of the fun and dancing part.
And a bit of advice at the end: it is better to taste Istrian cooking than to write or read about it. So have fun at the Rabac waterfront at the “What our grandmothers cooked” manifestation on the following days:
- 14 June 2009 - from 4 pm to 6 pm

- 23 August 2009 - from 9 pm to 11 pm
