Traditional Petrova festivity in Labin
Wed, Jun 24, 2009
The events of the great Petrova Festivity will begin early in the morning on Saturday, 27 June. The bowling tournament “Petrova 2009″ will start at the Labin bowling alley at 9 am. In the evening, at 8 pm, all those present at the Tito Square in the old town of Labin will have the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of the Labin town orchestra, as well as the performance by the town majorettes and the local dancing and specific singing in two voices (Cro. na tanko i debelo). The youngest, children’s choirs Minicantanti and Mornica will show their singing skills as well. For all those who love singing and dancing, Jasmin Stavros will perform and certainly thrill the audience and the good atmosphere will be brought by the Altea Band just as well.
Those, who can’t stay put for long, can take a walk through the old town of Labin and have fun listening to rock music at the “kod Spine” after party, while those who appreciate art will be able to enjoy the exhibition at the Alvona Gallery at 9 pm. All the above is, of course, accompanied by a rich catering offer. The solemn mass will be held in the parish church in the old town of Labin on Monday, 29 June.
The Petrova Festivity was named after St. Peter in whose honour it is celebrated and it is traditional because it used to be a big fair day when people from the surrounding villages came to the city to sell their products, and it was also a long-anticipated day because of the singing and dancing under the town lodge. The tradition has been kept to this day and, in that spirit, an exhibition of Labin bee products and handicrafts, i.e. an antiques fair, will take place during the Petrova Festivity.
Join us! Fun is guaranteed!
