Traditional festivity of Petrova in Labin
Wed, Jun 25, 2008
On Saturday 28th June, in the early hours of the morning, a great festivity Petrova in Labin will start. The tournament “Petrova 2008“ will start at 9 a.m. at the bowling court in Labin. In the evening hours, at 8:30 to be more exact, at the square Titov Trg in the old city of Labin, all present will enjoy in the music by the Labin city orchestra and the performance of the city majorettes, as well as in the local dances and high and low singing. The youngest, group Kerubini, child choir Minicantati and Mornica and the St Andrew parish choir, will also show their singing skills.
Oliver Dragojevi? will perform for all the fans of this greatest Croatian musical legend, and he will certainly thrill numerous people in the audience with his famous performance and beautiful songs.
Those who cannot stand still (including myself) will be able to enjoy and have fun while walking through the old city of Labin with the entertaining music of the band Altea and rock music by Predrag Ljuna, including of course the rich catering offer.
The festivity of Petrova was named after St Peter whom it celebrates, and it has become traditional because during history it was a great day of the fair, when people from the surrounding villages came to town to sell their products and a long-expected day, because people would sing and dance under the town Loggia. The tradition is kept to this day, when there will be a fair of home-made products and handicrafts, as well as an antiques fair at the festivity of Petrova.
You will certainly have fun, you just have to show up!
