Rabac

On 27.04 the “Voga teleferika” will be held, the eighth rowing race in succession, which this year will also include yachts. After the race and announcement of the winner, visitors will be able to have fun playing tug-of-war and other games. They will also be to quench their thirst and satisfy their hunger with drinks and sardines that will be prepared by the inhabitants of Rabac. The party will continue with music and dancing until the early hours of the morning.

This has become an event which could be described as being the unofficial opening of the tourist season, so we invite you to come to Rabac and enjoy this with us.

Here are a few words about the ‘teleferika’ (on the photo) after which this regatta got its name. It is a cable car that once used to transport bauxite and connected the bauxite port with the right coast of the bay. Rabac, and the Cere settlement was where the largest amount of bauxite was mined. The cable car was built in the time when Rabac was a part of Italy, and after World War II the ‘teleferika’ was taken down.
