Valamar Jazz Festival

The first Valamar Jazz Festival took place on St. Nikola’s Island this weekend in Porec. World-renowned musicians performed at the festival. Claudia Acuna, a singer of an “angelic voice” and the British jazz bass player Dave Holland performed on the first evening, as well as the amazing flamenco guitarist from Granada, Pepe Habichuela, his son, who is also a guitarist, Josemi Carmona and two percussion players from the same family, the excellent Bandolero and the young Juan Carmona.
The Saturday night jazz event organized on St. Nikola’s Island was opened by a trio consisting of its lead musician Edward Simon, a pianist, Joe Martin, an excellent bass player, and Adam Cruz, a drummer. First-class jazz musician Dianne Reeves, one of the most significant modern jazz female vocals, an artist from a musical family and a three-time Grammy winner, was the next to perform.
The third evening went by in an atmosphere of excellent performances by Maurice Brown Effect and Abraham Inc.
An after party was organized as the three festival days ended and all jazz fans kept enjoying themselves and listening to jazz music and trying the delicacies in the beautiful Villa Polesini.
The international summer festival of Argentinean tango will be held for the first time in Porec from15 to 18 July, and it will host the world famous dance tutors from Buenos Aires for the very first time. Pablo Rodriguez and Noelia Hurtado, Federico Naveira and Ines Muzzopappa as well as Bruno Tombari and Mariangeles Caamano, all young dancers and dance tutors, will hold various workshops and dance performances and introduce the type of tango danced all over the world nowadays; the modern, flirty and playful tango. This four-day manifestation will take place in the Valamar Diamant Hotel, which will turn into a whole-day dance podium throughout the entire duration of the festival.
The festival will gather as much as 400 dancers from all over the world, and that very number makes this manifestation the largest tango event in Croatia.

We invite you to be our guests and attend the “Villa Polesini Garden Party” which will take place at Villa Polesini on Friday, 16 July starting at 7 p.m. The first garden party in a series of such events will include wine, cheese and olive oil tasting, and the price of the admission ticket is the favourable rate of HRK 70. The Blues Box Band will take care of the entertainment part of the programme.
