Valamar cooks and pastry chefs showed impressive skills and won four medals at the National Cooks and Pastry Chefs Championship held in Varaždinske Toplice, as a part of the Croatian Culinary Days 2011. Dean Gluhak, chef at the Porec Naturist Resort Solaris, won the gold medal in the “Culinary Art” category with his cold creation made of fruit and vegetables. Marina Milohanovic and Rafaela Mihatovic, pastry chefs from the Porec Valamar Rubin hotel jointly won three medals in the “Pastry Arts” category. Marina won a silver medal, while Rafaela claimed two bronze medals.
“This medal is an incentive to me and all the cooks and pastry chefs of Valamar to take part in similar competitions, trainings and educations even more” said Mr Gluhak, while Ms Mihatovic explained that this year she further built upon the experience gained at the last year’s championship. “I met other pastry chefs at the competition, we exchanged experiences and I learned something new” she added.
Tihomir Vedriš, specialist in food production at Valamar was visibly pleased and spared no praise for his colleagues: “It took a lot of effort, hard work and love; they diligently practised and prepared for days, and it paid off. They won their medals and I wholeheartedly congratulate them.”
