A breath of history at Porec Giostra

Porec

At the close of the summer, the inhabitants of Porec and their guests have dressed their medieval clothes especially for Giostra. The town assumed a completely different aspect, gaining a certain antique look, and everything had an aroma of the Baroque…
This weekend, the Giostra Festival had gathered many ladies in crinolines, noblemen, knights, lepers, standard-bearers, drummers, arbalests…

During this second successive year, there was a medieval narrative aobut Giostra that went around Porec, a story of a historical festivity which is mentioned in the Porec historical books dating from the 17th century.
The part of the history has been carried over to the present time, so during the last weekend people could enjoy in the rhythm of music and dance-steps od the 17th century. Because nothing beautiful lasts forever, neither so the Porec Giostra does.

Three days of Festival had been planned, which was too short for all of us, and then the rain came and closed the Festival instead of us. Let us hope for a finer weather the next year, when we invite you to join the celebration of Giostra.
