Istria

Autumn is a season rich in fruit, grapes and figs are harvested and the sea is also rich in fruit- seafood! Fishing may be recreational, however, there are members of fishing clubs that take part in sport fishing.
In case you would like to try out sport fishing at the sea, Koversada Cup is held this year for the 18th time. On Sunday, October 12, coastal region of Vrsar shall be full of small fishing boats used for catching fish.

Fishing shall be done with a rod or “hooks”, three fish-hooks at most, done from anchored boat and the contestants shall chose the bait themselves.
Fishing shall start at 8:30 in the morning and shall be finished at 12:30 pm. Rich in fish, sea bed of western coast of Istria is one of more important reason why this traditional fishing competition lasts only four, instead of five hours.

And of course, good catch is followed by weighing of the fish, proclaiming of the winner and lunch, including, of course, unavoidable fish menu. See you in Vrsar and here is our message to the fishers: may your sea be calm and your catch good!
