Motovun Film festival
Mon, Jul 23, 2007
Today is the opening day of the ninth Motovun Film Festival that will last from July 23rd until 27rd. It is a unique cultural event taking place every year in Istria and Croatia that actually started off as a little project of a group of enthousiasts, whereas it turned out to become a well-known European film-industry event that nobody dares to miss out on. Beside the interesting and various film programme, Motovun carries a message of promoting the values of civil society, tolerance anf life without prejudice.
In regard to the film programme itself, we should mention that there will around eighty film projections at this year’s Motovun, divided into Main programme, Motovun Online, J-horror, and Made in Vojvodina. Further more, we’d like to turn your attention to Night at Barbacan and Special screenings – films in honour of the members of the jury.
Just as it has been in the last years, Motovun will present and screen films of independent productions and smaller film industries from around the world, as well as this year’s laureats from Sundance and Cannes, so that passionate film lovers can, the way they have always, enjoy the films. However, somewhat more commercial films have found their spot in the programme, among others, the Oscar-winning “Pan’s Labyrinth“ and “Red road”. On the press conference the artitistic director of the festival Rajko Grli? said that this year’s programme was organized so that the visitors could, at any given moment, choose between three or four simultaneous events, from 10 a.m. until the next morning.
