Tue, Jul 29, 2008
The inhabitants of Pazin and numerous visitors to the capital of Istria shall celebrate its holiday Rim this year. Franciscans from Pazin celebrate their most important holiday Rim in accordance with church practice of St. Francis’ order, which the Church had given a privilege that everybody who visits the St. Mary of the Angels in Italian Assisi on August 2 shall be absolved of all sins. Many Franciscan churches accepted this custom, among them also church in Pazin. Therefore, each year during Rim, many pilgrims from different parts of Croatia and worldwide traditionally visit Franciscan church in Pazin.
The most attended Pazin festivity is certainly this one during holiday Rim, when „the bellybutton” of Istria is visited by many visitors who enjoy plentiful offer of home-made products and have fun in the evening during shows preformed by Croatian musicians.
We would also like to announce that an evening of Croatian klapa (harmony singing group) shall be held this year, for the sixth time, on August 4, 2008 in Trviz, which attracts a great number of admirers of klapa singing to this medieval city. This is the time when the melodies of specific a capella singing of Dalmatian, coastal and Istrian melodies performed by klapas from Istria, Croatian Littoral, islands and Dalmatia sound over the village square…
