Histria festival 2008

The ninth annual Histria International Music and Stage Festival will be held in Pula and on the island of Briuni from 2 July to 23 August. The formal opening of the Festival will be on 5 July at 21:30 at the Pula Arena. Outstanding world-class soloists will be accompanied by the European Master Orchestra of Vienna. Soloists will include Tomislav Muzek, tenor; Lidija Horvat Dunjko, soprano; Stjepan Hauser, cello; Stefan Milenkovic, violin and Yuan-Chuan Pan, contrabass.
Highlights of the rich program of this year’s Histria Festival include:
- 13 July 2008 at 21:30, Pula Arena: concert by the Buena Vista Social Club. The famous Cuban ensemble will appear with the renowned Cuban singer Omar Portuondo.
- 18 July 2008 at 21:30, Kastel, Pula: solo concert by Nina Badric, popular Croatian pop singer.
- 23 July 2008 at 21:30, Briuni National Park: concert by the Rucner String Quartet, established in 1998 by Snjezana (cello) and Dragan (viola) Rucner.
- 05 July 2008 at 21:30, Arena, Pula: Ballet - G. Bizet “Carmen“, C. Orff “Carmina Burana“. Appearances will include the Academic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Miroslav Homen; soloists and choir of the University J. Dobrilo of Pula; the orchestra and choir of the Kosovo Philharmonic, and an appearance by the Imperial Russian Ballet.
- 23 August 2008 at 21:30, Pula Arena: concert by Toni Cetinski and guests (premier concert in advance of the world tour of the greatest Croatian pop star).
