Thu, Aug 28, 2008
Many of us probably wish to read a good book, but because of working throughout the year we never manage to do so. And then we promise ourselves that we will read a book during vacation, which comes, and … nothing of reading….
But the town of Krk is taking care that you stay in touch with events in the Croatian and international literary scene by staging the Pontes Literary Festival between 23 and 28 August. For 13 years at the end of August writers, artists, publishers and other book lovers from a various parts of the world have been meeting in Krk, agreeing on cooperation and making public presentations at the Pontes Festival.
Pontes opened on Saturday within the walls of the Krk citadel, when the well-known Croatian actor Filip sovagovic appeared with fragments from his monodrama “State of the Nation”.
Every day during the Festival there are writing workshops beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the elementary school with the motto, “A lot of practice, a little theory”. The lecturers are independent literary figures. .
Every evening you can participate in various literary themes and dilemmas while lightly sipping a drink in the Volsonis cocktail bar. Writers who have participated in the festival until now include Aida Bagic, Tomislav Markovic, Lamija Begagic and Igor stiks, and on Thursday, 28 August, you will be able to meet Robert Perisic.
Entry to the Festival is free and everyone is welcome!
