The island of Krk – the “closest” Adriatic island
There are 1246 islands along the Croatian coast, and the island of Krk is with its surface of 406 km2, after Cres one of the biggest. Besides being one of the biggest, we can with certainty claim that it has the best connections with the land. The geographical position itself makes Krk assessible to all tourists who travel from Europe, and apart from the bridge that connects the island with the land, there is also an airport on Krk (Airport Rijeka) with regular international flights.
The arrival of the low fare airlines to Croatia has made it possible for tourists from Germany, Great Britain, the Scandinavian and other European countries… to make use of the benefits of this means of transport and to arrive at our tourist resorts including the island of Krk in a quicker and simpler way than before. At this point I would like to name some of the interesting flight lines of the airlines easyJet and TUIFly that connect Krk with Great Britain and Germany on regular basis and with low fares.
EasyJet flies four times a week on the route Krk-London during the whole summer season, and TUIFly flies passengers from Germany also 4 times a week from several German cities to Krk (Hanover, Munchen, Stuttgart…). Besides these two airlines, we should mention Norvegian Air, flying twice a week on the route Oslo – island of Krk. If we consider the fact that the flights from the remotest parts of Europe, i.e. Scandinavia don’t last longer than 3 hours, it is clear thatt there is no reason why not to exchange the monotonous everyday at work and the noise of the city for the Mediterranean atmosphere at Krk in shorter time and with less effort.

Island of Krk
