Taking the Krk asparagus trails
Thu, Apr 9, 2009
If you like walking in nature and you wish to experience the joy of Easter in a special way, welcome to Krk! On Monday, 13 April, as the clock strikes twelve, an interesting walking tour will set off from the front of the Frankopan Tower. We will take a walk along the ancient town alleys, the seaside promenade and green labyrinths over the Prnibe peninsula, along the olive trail all up to the little St. Mikul port, just a few pulls away from the little Franciscan island of Kosljun.
In this place hikers become seamen. Krk ships will take the hikers across the Puntarska bay. A short ride is followed by disembarking at Dunat in front of the Old-Christian little church of the same name which also reminds us that Krk is the cradle of Croatian written word and unbreakable ties with the Middle European cultural circle. Invigorated by homemade meals we set off to Kornic leaving those who are more tired to the organized bus transport to Krk.
In Kornic we have an opportunity to see how our predecessors used to live during short sightseeing of an indigenous Krk house. Two thirds of the journey are behind us and, encouraged by that thought, we continue along the olive trail and arrive to the Krk observation point. “With Krk on the palm of your hand“, the blue sea horizons and the views of the islands of Plavnik, Cres, Rab, etc. open in front of us. While entering the town we can sense the aroma of familiar food; a dish of 1002 scrambled eggs is being prepared! And the asparagus? The “game“ we have gathered along the way will naturally be added to the already prepared asparagus and we will enjoy this simple, but always delicious, dish containing the top quality extra-virgin Krk olive oil.
Welcome!
