Medieval fair on August 8th and 9th in Krk
Thu, Aug 7, 2008
We invite you to the Fair with memorable events in the Frankopanian city of Krk, which will be held on 8th and 9th of August.
Krk fair is one of the longest-lived fairs in the north Adriatic Coast and it is organized on the holiday of St. Lovre almost every year since it was first mentioned in 1524, with occasional interruptions. A lot has changed over the centuries, but the appeal of Krk fair as a place with the most versatile offer of goods from “all over the world” remains the same today as it was 500 years ago.
Today, the city of Krk is gladly visited by producers and merchants from mainland, in their attempt to promote and sell their products to the numerous tourists who visit the island. In the ancient times, the Island of Krk, which had a special status thanks to the Frankopan princes of Krk, enjoyed the visits of merchant galleys which sailed the millennium merchant routes. The program, which takes us back to the time of the first Krk fairs in the 16th century, takes place on Kamplin square, where the Castle of Frankopan princes of Krk is situated.
This year, at the Medieval Fair, one can enjoy the variety of traditional Croatian products which will be offered at the Krk town quay, taste homemade gastronomy in restaurants, watch the naval battle and have fun at the coast until hours of the night…
