Making lavander decorations with guests in Krk

Island of Krk

Lavender has been a decoration in many gardens around the world for over 2000 years. From Roman times until this day lavender has been a source of many riches; from flowers and perfumes to its well-known healing and aromatherapy characteristics. It is presumed that lavender came from the Latin word “lavare” which means “to wash”, since Romans had a habit of enriching their baths with lavender. They would spend a lot of money on ritual ceremonies with lavender and on lavender lotions in public baths.

Lavender decorates many gardens and rocky grounds of our camps Ježevca and Politina and the park surrounding the hotel Valamar Koralj, with its beautiful lavender flowers.

Have you ever experienced problems with annoying moths in your wardrobe? We suggest that you try resolving this problem with this miraculous plant. Apart from being decorative, little bundles and packages of lavender can also be very useful.

You can also make them yourselves, like out horticulture manager, Ms. Blaženka, does. In June, when the color of lavender flower is most intense, you can pick its flowers along with its long stems and shape them decoratively. Lavender bundles and packages will not lose its scent even when the lavender becomes dry.

I believe that our guests who made lavender decorations with Ms. Blaženka will remember Krk every time they smell the scent of lavender…
