I love spring in Krk
Fri, Apr 2, 2010
A season of spring manifestations entitled “I love spring in Krk” will begin with the Easter holiday and from 3 to 5 April, a manifestation called “Small Spring Fair” will be held on the Krk waterfront where visitors will have the opportunity to buy the indigenous Croatian agricultural products and souvenirs, as well as hiking equipment. They will also be able to try, rent or buy various sports props.
This year’s hiking tour “Along the Ways of Asparagus” will be traditionally held on the shepherds’ and peasants’ trails surrounding the town. It will take us along the educational olive oil road starting with the Castle of Nikola IV Frankopan on the Krk waterfront. The walk will continue through the old heart of the town, along the Lakmartinska Street towards the Val di Doka olive growe, all the way to Kornic. After arriving to Kornic, the hikers will have the opportunity to visit the “Ethno house” and take a break and enjoy some refreshments. Local caterers will do their best, just as they do every year, to offer their finest delicacies such as the Krk prsciutto and sheep cheese in olive oil, bread prepared under the bakin lid (peka) and refreshing drinks.
Hikers, those more or less persistant, will have the opportunity of chosing one of two possible ways of returning to Krk: by bus or by walking along the easier trail towards the town of Krk. All this will be accompanied by a beautiful panoramic view of the neighbouring islands and the ancient town of Krk. This year’s route is planned to end with a visit to “Nono olive oil house” where visitors will be able to see the miniature oil factory, try the best oils and the top quality island products and buy all the above as original souvernirs. We invite you to join us in a spring walk along the sea and sun which is a combination of fun, gastronomy, culture and indigenous products and also good for your health.
