How to avoid the winter blues on Krk?
Thu, Nov 12, 2009
Everyone is familiar with the terms winter blues or lethargy, unless they live in tropical areas, of course. It is not unusual to feel tired, lethargic, nervous or depressed during that time of year. However, don’t worry. Here are some of the ways you can avoid the winter lethargy. Start reading because reading is an excellent way of spending the long winter days and nights. A good book is a perfect getaway from reality. It is time to read that crime book or a classic you never seem to get around to.
Visit the Krk Pontes bookshop, the only “true” island bookshop in Croatia. The Pontes library was opened in the centre of Krk five years ago and the people at Krk think of it as much more than just a bookshop; to them it is a place where numerous events take place as well. For example, Krk cheese production workshops are organized here during the winter and there are also events when authors come and visit the bookshop. There is a wide range of books, from picture books for children, fiction written in foreign languages, island guidebooks, monographies and cookbooks to scientific works, all at your disposal here.
How can then reading a book help us get into a better mood? The very act of going to a bookshop and choosing exactly what we need will help as well as the fact that we are learning useful information by reading books and broadening our knowledge. A book should renew our body and soul and inspire us by providing good ideas and skills. Therefore, read those literary works which will rebuild you as a person in both intellectual and spiritual terms and help you get through the winter and greet that long, warm summer.
