Welcoming the New Year’s Eve on Stradun is one of the most magnificent events one can experience in the town of Dubrovnik. The large covered stage, the light effects which make the surrounding monuments shine like they are magical, the lights flowing down the bell tower and spreading across Stradun at midnight; all of this is only a small part of the event which welcomed numerous Croatian and internationally known stars, such as Chris Norman and Gipsy Kings, within the past decade, and the New Year’s Eve atmosphere of this unique world stage has been recorded and reported live by CNN for several years in a row.

The manifestation of saying goodbye to the old and welcoming the New Year at Stradun starts on 31 December in the morning hours with a performance by the harmony singing groups in front of the Sponza Palace. At noon in front of St. Blasius’ church a traditional manifestation called kolenda will take place at Stradun with the participation of the Lindo folklore ensemble, the Libertas Dubrovnik choir, the Dubrovnik Town Band and the Dubrovnik majorettes, and the best Dubrovnik bartenders will be preparing cocktails on the Town Café terrace. The main event of the New Year’s Eve will start at 9 pm with the concert by the Dariva band and the main local star Milo Hrnic.

This year the New Year’s Eve and the ceremony of welcoming the year to come will take place at the Valamar Lacroma Resort and Tirena hotels at the Babin kuk peninsula. The Valamar Lacroma Resort Hotel will organize a gala buffet dinner in its own Elaphiti congressional hall with cheerful sounds of the Zadar Forum band, while the Split Bambola band, which has been entertaining the numerous foreign and local guests for several years in a row, will be performing at the Tirena Hotel.
