Dubrovnik

http://www.libertasfilmfestival.com/As introduced in the post „Introduction to Dubrovnik stories“, in this section we will be announcing, among other contents related to Dubrovnik, the events that are definitely worth visiting. The first on the list is, of course, the Libertas Film Festival which takes place in Dubrovnik, from today until 4th July. The festival was first held in 2005, and it now celebrates its third edition.

As the organizers announced, the programme this year will be even more rich and varied, and it is worth pointing out five Norwegian films that will be presented within the programme section called „Fokus”, offering us an insight in the recent, always particularly interesting cinematography of this Scandinavian country. The programme is extremely varied and the following PDF document taken from the official Libertas Film Festival website contains a detailed schedule of showcases. Competition films will be screened in the following competitive categories: dramatic, documentary and short film as well as “midnight madness” programme. We should also point out some extraordinary films which will be showed in the Outside competition section.

The term „international“ present in its title is justified by a large list of filmmakers from numerous countries participating in the Festival. Their films will be showed on the screens of four Dubrovnik venues: Revelin terrace, Marin Drži? theatre and cinemas Sloboda and Jadran. We will mention only a few countries to give you an idea: Thailand, India, France, Hong Kong, Iran. Sweden, USA, Georgia, Russia… Here is also a list of some filmmakers that will be presenting their recent work: Tsai Ming-liang, Gela and Temur Babluani, Andrew Lau and Alan Mak, Mira Nair, Julie Delpy, Lars von Trier, Danny i Oxide Pang, Eli Roth…

And finally, one curiosity: last year, famous actors as Nick Nolte, Woddy Harrelson and Owen Wilson visited the Festival and this year we are also expecting to see some interesting faces from the film world.

We believe that everything mentioned above should be tempting enough for you to head towards Dubrovnik and enjoy a week of summer and great films.
