Dubrovnik

fabergeWe can, without doubt, say that Dubrovnik has established itself as a city of top-grade events in the field of culture and arts. In these last few months we have on the blog announced and reviewed numerous world-class events that had taken place in Dubrovnik. And we can with certainty claim that Dubrovnik has offered a great diversity of events, from Libertas Film Festival up to the unique Dubrovnik summer festival, also various concerts, exhibitions … The last of the big events was the festival “Julian Rachlin and Friends” , that we had also announced on our blog. Barely has this festival finished, already one more, international culture event is pending, and we shouldn’t miss to mention it.

What is it about? It is an exhibition of artifacts from the famous Faberge jewelry collection under the name “Treasures of Imperial Russia” that is usually guest exclusively to the most prominent world galleries and museums, whereas we should mention that dates for exhibitions of these artifacts are usually fully booked a few years in advance. In Dubrovnik museums, the preparations for this big exhibition of artifacts from the renowned jewelry store of Peter Carl Faberge are drawing to its close. The exhibition in the Duke’s Palace will run from end September until mid November, and more than one hundred valuable articles from the collection under the guardianship of the foundation “The link of Times” will be on display.

On this occasion, also the director of this foundation Roman Thaker has come to Dubrovnik, and together with his associates he is taking part in the preparations of the exhibition. “Extensive preparations that are under way in cooperation with the Foundation “The Link of Times” involve high-level protection and security measures” — says the director of Dubrovnik museums, Varina Jurica-Turk, and adds that the exhibits will, beside the sophisticated technology, from video surveillance to movement sensors, get physical protection in order to fully comply with the demanding security standards that usually follow this exhibition.
The exhibition has aroused great interest in the cultural public sphere, both in Croatia, and abroad and we are eagerly looking forward to its opening.

Note: All those who are interested in finding accommodation in Dubrovnik during the exhibition, can find current offers in the Dubrovnik hotels Valamar in that period.
