The 8th festival of chamber music Julian Rachlin & Friends was closed on September 14 by a special festival project “Sir Roger Moore Reads Letters of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart”.
This year’s festival took place from September 2- 14. Ten concert nights were held, during which Julian Rachlin and his friends Itamar Golan, Mischa Maisky, Janine Jansen, as well as more than hundred other participants from different countries performed some of the most beautiful pieces of Beethoven, Mozart, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, Schuman and other classical masters.
Spanish composer Alberto Iglesias, author of music for movies of Spanish director Pedro Almodovar and many others, has presented his two pieces and John Malkovich, famous Hollywood actor, participated in one of them.
A “Concert in White” and “Concert for the People of Dubrovnik” were held this year as well- a musical gift to the town of Dubrovnik which maestro Rachlin organizes each year during the festival.
The “Concert in White” was held the same night in Rector’s Palace- a festival concert during which the musicians as well as the audience were dressed in white, creating not only an ultimate musical pleasure, but also an unique atmosphere.
Since the first concert cycle in 2001 till present day, this festival has turned into an event that may not be missed and represents an unavoidable station on European musical chart.
