8th Festival of Chamber Music Festival Julian Rachlin & Friends
Fri, Aug 29, 2008
The story of the festival begun back in year 2000, when violin virtuoso Julian Rachlin gave concert for the first time at Dubrovnik Summer Festival and created in his mind an idea of summer music festival. The first festival was held the very next year. Maestro invited all his friends- musicians, who were enchanted by Dubrovnik as much as he was.
Well known names in chamber music, Hollywood actors and numerous premieres and performances of musical works at the historical stages of Dubrovnik are features of this year’s festival of chamber music Julian Rachlin & Friends that will take place in Dubrovnik from September 2- 14.
Besides Rachlin, the most famous names of worldwide chamber music shall perform at the festival, such as Mischa Maisky, Itamar Golan, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from London, American baritone Thomas Hampson, Hollywood actors Sir Roger Moore and John Malkovich, as well as pianist Martha Argerich.
We would especially would like to point out the theatrical and musical performance „Sir Roger Moore reads letters of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart”, during which several pieces of this famous composer shall be performed and which shall be performed by participators in this year’s festival- besides the actor legend.
The uniqueness of this musical event and the town it takes place at is described in the best way by maestro Rachlin himself, who said: “I have never given concerts such as in Rector’s Palace, which is characterised by this unusual combination of arts and friendship and rarely noticeable synergy“.
