This is the fourth edition of the Libertas Film Festival, which will from 27th June till 2nd July bring many independent film titles from the whole world in competitive categories of feature film, documentary and short film. After Portugal and Norway, this year the FOCUS program will present for the first time in Croatia the contemporary Cuban cinematography.

Film projections will be held in the open theatre Jadran, city theatre Marin Drži?, cinema Sloboda and Sponza Palace. All of them will be Croatian premieres. Among numerous films, the following should be singled out: the urban teenager drama “Paranoid Park“ by the cult Gus Van Santo, Israeli war drama nominated for the Oscar “Beaufort“, Bolywood spectacle “Om Shanti Om“, the controversial German drama “Die Welle“ and the excellent Checz comedy”„Roming“. For the fans of detective stories and horror films there is the well-known program “Midnight Madness“.

There will be a few free projections for the people of Dubrovnik and their guests, such as “Bernard and Doris“ with Susan Sarandon and Ralph Riennes in main roles, as well as the film adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy “As You Like It“.

And cream at the end, let us remember how in the previous years Dubrovnik was visited by the program director of Sundance Film Festival Trevor Gorth, Holywood actors Owen Wilson and Woody Harelson and many others. This year the Holywood director Ira Sacha and the actor, Oscar award winner, Chris Cooper with the director Marina Zenovich have confirmed their arrival to Dubrovnik.
