2008 is not proclaimed the year of Marin Drzic in vain and the events that took place in Dubrovnik in its very beginning prove it. According to the announcements, numerous events dedicated to remembrance of the person and work of this great Renaissance writer from Dubrovnik and Croatia are foreseen.

From the last week we singled out these events:

- The first performance of “Skup” in Dubrovnik Theatre of Marin Drzic

The first performance of the comedy “Skup” by which Dubrovnik pays tribute to the great Croatian playwright and poet. The prologue and epilogue were written by Luko Paljetak, director and scriptwriter is Zlatko Bourek, costume designer is Dijana Kosec-Bourek, and music was composed by Paula Drazic Zekic. The actors from Dubrovnik Theatre play in it.

- The announcement of the international symposium and publishing of encyclopaedia on Drzic on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his birth

The symposium of international Renaissance experts will take place in Rector’s Palace in autumn on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Drzic’s birth. At the end of the year encyclopaedia on Marin Drzic consisting of two thousand pages will be presented. 80 experts will work on it. The main editor of the encyclopaedia will be Slobodan Prosperov Novak, an excellent expert on Drzic’s person and work, already mentioned on this blog.

- The first-run of the documentary film about Marin Drzic “Od tartare do urote”

The first-run of the film “Od tartare do urote - Marin Drzic” of the author and screenwriter PhD Slavica Stojan, which speaks about the historical period in which Drzic wrote, as well as its virtual world and modernity. Vladimir Gojan is its director, and Brigita Masle the producer.
