11th Dubrovnik International Judo Cup
Fri, Oct 24, 2008
The history of the sport of judo in Dubrovnik begins in the 1960s, when the Nacui Judo Club was founded. During its 40 years of activity, the club has changed its name several times. Nacui became Dubrovnik, after that Dubrovnik Bank, and for several years it was called Dubrovnik 1966. The club is also the prime mover for the sport of karate in Dubrovnik. The club has held a series of seminars, demonstrations, and presentations of judo and other martial arts. It has founded chapters throughout the city through its high quality organization and with expert assistance, and it is proud of its efforts in popularizing the sport of judo.
Over the years the competitors and trainers of the club have achieved outstanding results in all adult categories. This is evident by its numerous medals, diplomas, cups and other awards, by the successful schooling of about 10 specialist judo trainers, by the 1,000 people with judo belts from students to masters, and by the numerous judges and officials who come from the club.
The club’s success can also be seen in its organization of many competitions, especially the Adriatic Cup, the International Cup of Dubrovnik, and its contributions in organizing the European team championships and the world military championships, the largest judo competition that Dubrovnik has hosted until now.
We invite you to join us for the 11th International Judo Cup Dubrovnik, which will be held between 17 and 19 October 2008 in the Gospino Polje Sports Hall in Dubrovnik.
