“Royal Philharmonic Orchestra” in Dubrovnik
Tue, Sep 4, 2007
Dubrovnik is the host of a major music event starting tomorrow. In the following 12 days 9 world-class concerts will be held. It is a part of the classic music festival “Julian Rachlin and Friends” and it is its seventh edition.
Maestro Julian Rachlin is a great lover of Dubrovnik so it is not surprising that he chose this town as a location for holding his own festival.
Year after year the festival is getting better and better, so this year all music connoisseurs are in for countless surprises.
Pieces of Brahms, Bach, Strass, Schumann, Mozart, Prokofjev, Šostakovi?, Dvorzak and other great names are going to be heard in the festival and the last concert on the 16th of September is literally “the cream on the cake” of this festival.
That same day at 10 o’clock in the evening at Boškovi?eva poljana in Dubrovnik the Royal philharmonic orchestra from London is giving a concert under the direction of maestro Danielle Gatti who is rightfully considered one of the greatest conductors today.
This international orchestra is composed of the best musicians of today and is going to perform a program dedicated to Ludwig van Bethoveen. The British philharmonic orchestra was founded by Sir Thomas Beecham in 1946 with the vision and the aim to gather top-class musicians and to present their performances to the audience in the whole world. From its foundation until today truly big names conducted the orchestra: Rudolf Kempe, Antal Doráti, André Previn and Vladimir Ashkenazy, and since 1996 it’s been under the conducting baton of Daniele Gatti.
